Abstract
Purpose
WeChat is the largest acquaintance social networking platform in China, in which users can view and reshare web pages shared by friends. This paper aims to analyze the spatio-temporal dynamics of web pages diffused in WeChat and advice on commercials.
Design/methodology/approach
A large number of web pages diffused in WeChat are collected and exclusively divided into four categories according to their titles, including advertisements, news bulletins, holiday greetings and emotional essays. For each web page, an information cascade (tree structure) is constructed to describe the diffusion trace. Based on the categories, the spatio-temporal popularity is characterized; the topological, temporal and spatial properties are examined; and the spatio-temporal diffusion velocity is explored.
Findings
Through comparative analysis, different categories of pages show diversity. For spatio-temporal popularity, there is no significant difference in cascade size; holiday greetings usually last for a relatively short time on average; emotional essays are more likely to spread to more provinces. For topological, temporal and spatial characteristics, the diffusion process of advertisements is more likely to be broadcasting than other categories; news bulletins and holiday greetings have an obvious bursty; the number of viewing behavior decreases from east to west in general. For spatio-temporal diffusion velocity, emotional essays diffuse the fastest in topological and spatio-temporal dimensions.
Originality/value
These findings contribute to promoting products and providing support for data driven modeling of information diffusion and human activity in spatio-temporal dimensions.

This paper aims to analyze a failure case of a P110 tube in a CO2 flooding well.
Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to analyze a failure case of a P110 tube in a CO2 flooding well.
Design/methodology/approach
The chemical composition, microstructure and mechanical properties of the failed P110 tubing steel were tested, and met the API Spec 5CT standard. The fractures were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy.
Findings
Fracture was induced by stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and that the stress concentration caused by the mechanical damage played an important role in the failure. The failure case is a SCC failure affected by mechanical damage and galvanic corrosion.
Originality/value
The effect of the infiltration of groundwater was studied in the failure case. The stress concentration caused by the mechanical damage played an important role in the failure.

Abstract
Purpose
The piston ring-cylinder liner pair is one of the most important tribological systems of an internal combustion engine. The friction loss of the piston ring-cylinder liner pair accounts for the largest portion of total efficiency losses. Therefore, improving the tribological system design of the piston ring-cylinder liner pair can reduce friction losses and bring tremendous economic benefits to society. This paper aims use surface texturing, which is proving to be an effective method, for improving the tribological performance of sliding surfaces.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, an experimental study using a pin-on-disk tribometer was carried out to evaluate the effects of surface texturing on friction reduction of piston rings under various loads and sliding velocities. Rectangular- and circular-shaped textures with different depths and area densities were produced by a Femtosecond laser. Comparison experiments were conducted with un-textured rings.
Findings
The results indicate that the friction performance of the ring surface was significantly improved by surface texturing, and the running-in stage was also shortened. More specifically, it was found that the rectangular-shaped texture had a better effect on friction reduction than the circular-shaped texture. Results also indicate that an optimum texture density existed for the rectangular-shaped texture. Additionally, it was observed that the average friction coefficient reduction of the textured ring decreased with increasing load and increased with increasing sliding velocity.
Originality/value
Consequently, these findings provide a more in-depth understanding of the relationship between micro-textures and tribological properties of piston rings in lubricating sliding.

This study aims to study the effect of Sn on the corrosion behavior of weathering steel (WS) in a simulated tropical marine atmosphere.
Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to study the effect of Sn on the corrosion behavior of weathering steel (WS) in a simulated tropical marine atmosphere.
Design/methodology/approach
Indoor alternate immersion tests, electrochemical measurements and real-time current-monitoring technology based on the galvanic corrosion principle were used and the scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electron probe microanalyzer were used to analyze the morphology and component of the rust layer.
Findings
The results indicated that Sn has a positive influence on the corrosion process. Sn participated in the composition of the rust layer in the form of SnO2 and is enriched in the inner rust layer. SnO2 participated in the coprecipitation process with iron oxides and oxyhydroxides, which promoted further transformation of γ-FeOOH to α-FeOOH. As a result, the rust layer of Sn-containing steel was continuous, compact and effectively blocked the invasion of aggressive Cl−. Therefore, the additive of Sn enhanced the corrosion resistance of WS in a simulated tropical marine atmosphere.
Originality/value
The corrosion behaviors of WS were researched by the real-time current-monitoring technology which was rarely used.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper was to study the relationship between safe storage life and storage mode of hot-rolled sheet (Q235, X70) in humid environment, and a prediction model of safe storage life under different storage modes was established.
Design/methodology/approach
The corrosion behavior of hot-rolled sheets under different storage conditions was studied with immersion experiment and morphology observation.
Findings
The results show that pitting occurs on the hot-rolled sheets in humid environment, and the corrosion behavior is strongly related with the storage mode. When they are stored separately, the number and depth of pits first increase and then decrease as the Cl− concentration rises, while for the stack storage, pit depth increases with increasing Cl− concentration. The safe storage time of separate storage is longer than that of stack storage. Based on this, a model of chloride ion concentration and storage life was established.
Originality/value
A storage safe life model of hot-rolled sheet in humid environment is proposed.

Abstract
Purpose
China's economic transition is essentially the process of China's institutional changes. During the changes, the appearance of institutional innovation is not regular; instead, it is intermittent and random. The purpose of this paper is to show that the fitful appearance of institutional innovation is the root of China's economic growth and fluctuations.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper constructs a real business cycle (RBC) model introducing the institutional factor expressed in the quantitative form under the dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) framework by measuring China's institutional changes quantitatively.
Findings
By comparing the characteristics of the actual economic data with those of the simulated economic data, we find that this RBC model can explain 94.44%, 66.07%, 23.46%, 21.03% and 15.45% of the cyclical fluctuations in output, investment, labor, consumption and capital, respectively.
Originality/value
The impulse response analysis finds that the institutional shocks have a relatively long duration, lasting about 30 years, and decline slowly over time, while technological shocks decline relatively fast, lasting approximately ten years.
